High Speed PCI Interface Board

PCI-card The PCI card allows the high-speed data transfer between a PC and external hardware (i. e. FPGA board, DSP). The 64bit/66MHz PCI bus is used, thus the card is predominantly suited for applications with PC server boards. For connecting external hardware, the PCI card provides an 80bit LVDS interface. The external hardware is connected by three ribbon cables via 68pin-Mini-SUB-D connectors.

Add-On Board Module Application example for the usage of the PCI Interface Board

The PCI card provides high on-board processing power and high flexibility, for it is equipped with a large Xilinx Virtex-II-FPGA. Two 16k*36bit FIFOs enable the PCI card to handle long data streams.

The LVDS interface fits to the LVDS Interface Board, which is available as add-on module for the FPGA-boards iaf FFP Basic and ProDesign CHIPit Gold.

Key Features:

  • PCI interface: 66MHz, 64bit, 3.3V
  • LVDS interface to external hardware:
32bit input, 32bit output, 16bit configurable as input or output (in groups of 4bit), 4 control lines, clock input
  • high on-board processing power and high flexibility, because of Xilinx Virtex-II-FPGA XC2V2000 and 2 FIFOs 16k*36bit
  • designed as plug-in card
  • LVDS interface connected via three 68pin Mini-SUB-D connectors (SCSI II cables can be used)
  • fitted add-on module available for FPGA boards iaf FFP Basic and ProDesign CHIPit Gold
