5G development platform F-PU-5G

Virtex UltraScale FPGA board with ComExpress extension

The platform has been designed for the development and prototyping of 5G key technologies such as “Cloud RAN”, “Ethernet Fronthaul”, “Gb Sync Ethernet” and “Software Defined Base Station Development”.

The 5G development platform combines Xilinx UltraScale FPGA with integrated COMExpress processor cards and 100Gb Ethernet connectivity.

The platform contains the following main components:
  • FPGA Xilinx Virtex / Kintex UltraScale, two options available: XCVU080 with 100 Gbit Ethernet interface or XCKU115 with more logic and DSP resources
  • Now also available with Virtex UltraScale+; possible variants: XCVU5P, XCVU7P, XCVU9P, XCVU13P
  • Clock generation/clock recovery unit based on DSPLL SI5345
  • 4 GByte DDR4 RAM
  • 2 COMExpress interfaces, Type 6 connector
  • 2 FMC HPC expansion slots
  • 2 100 Gbit Ethernet interfaces
  • 2 SFP+ interfaces, connected to the FPGA
  • 2 10 Gbit Ethernet interfaces (SFP+), connected to COMExpress
  • 1 1 Gbit Ethernet interface
  • 1 UART interface
  • Software-defined base station for 5G mobile communication
  • Software-defined radio head for 5G mobile communication
  • Open-air interface implementation with FPGA-controlled hardware acceleration
  • Cloud RAN
  • CPRI Ethernet conversion with low latency and clock synchronisation
  • Synchronised Ethernet, PtP
  • 100 Gbit Ethernet
  • Phy and MAC signal processing with high bandwidth (60 GHz radio access)
